Dr. Paul Davis is the Professor of Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity in the Department of Psychology at Umeå University. He has conducted research and consultancy work internationally with a wide range of populations including professional athletes and coaches, the armed forces, police, chronic pain patients, and performing artists. His research focuses on emotions and interpersonal relationships in sport, exercise, and health.
Paul is originally from Canada where he conducted sport and exercise psychology consulting with junior and elite athletes and coaches, as well as professional organisations in sport and business. He has worked with the British National Health Service as well as crime reduction charities to develop health promotion initiatives that use physical activity to enhance the health of communities and individuals. He also works with young offenders and indigenous communities to develop social and leadership skills through sport. The focus of his work is the development of sustainable high performance and wellbeing.
